The Secretary-General-elect of the Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC), H.E. Manssour Bin Mussallam, held a videoconference with the Minister of Education of the State of Palestine, H.E. Marwan Awartani, to discuss cooperation between the OEC and the Ministry of Education of the State of Palestine.
H.E. Awartani expressed Palestine’s commitment to ratify the Constitutive Charter of the OEC as a Founding State of the Organisation and to support the development and the implementation of the Organisation’s programmes of work. The Secretary-General-elect reiterated the Organisation’s readiness to support and assist Palestine in achieving the commitments made in the Universal Declaration of Balanced and Inclusive Education (UDBIE).
The Secretary-General-elect and the Minister of Education likewise discussed the obstacles and challenges emerging from Covid-19 and the solutions required to enhance the continuity of educational process in Palestine.
Given the adverse political situation in Palestine, H.E. Manssour Bin Mussallam expressed OEC’s determination to support the country in its endeavours to enhance safe learning environments and the right to quality education for Palestinian children.
Palestine is a founding State of the OEC.
