Sheikh Manssour Bin Mussallam, has arrived to Addis Ababa in the early hours of Monday, 30 May for a three-day official visit to the country, a founding Member State of the OEC.

The objective of the visit is to broaden the prospects and scope for multifaceted cooperation between the Organisation and Ethiopia in areas of common interest and to engage in a constructive dialogue with Ethiopia on how to complement the country’s endeavours to realise its development plans within the framework of the OEC’s Programme and Strategic Plan for 2022 – 2029 “Building the Education We Need, Shaping the Future We Want.”

During the visit, OEC’s Secretary-General is due to meet with the President of Ethiopia, H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Demeke Mekonnen, and other high-ranking officials of the Ethiopian government.

The visit serves as a timely opportunity for the OEC and Ethiopia to further concretise their coordination in the realisation of the shared aspiration of OEC Member States for a third, alternative and inclusive way of development and to implement the commitments made within the Universal Declaration of Balanced and Inclusive Education.

Facilitating effective cross-sectoral collaboration between the OEC and countries of the Global South constitutes a strategic priority for the Organisation to enhance education as a catalyst of equitable and inclusive sustainable development through reinforced and amplified South-South cooperation.
