The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC), H.E. Sheikh Manssour Bin Mussallam, announced today his decision to appoint Dr. Jacob Udo-Udo Jacob, of Nigeria, as Under-Secretary-General for Research, Evaluation and Foresight (REEF).
Before joining the OEC, Dr. Jacob Udo-Udo Jacob served as the Dean of Graduate School and Research at the American University of Nigeria. He previously held academic appointments at the Centre on International Cooperation at New York University and at the Department of International Studies at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, where he headed the Dickinson Bridge Program – a college-preparation initiative that provides educational opportunity to young people from regions of the world experiencing conflict and natural disasters, for whom higher education would otherwise be impossible.
In accepting the appointment, Dr Jacob Udo-Udo Jacob said: “I am honoured to join the OEC – the intergovernmental organisation of the Global South with a clear mandate to promote balanced and inclusive education. I am humbled by the Secretary General’s appointment to join his senior management team. I look forward to working closely with the Secretary-General and member countries to build the knowledge and perspectives needed to transform our education for a more peaceful and prosperous future for all humanity.”
In his new capacity, Dr Jacob Udo-Udo Jacob heads the Department of Research, Evaluation and Foresight (REEF), and serves in the Cabinet of the Secretary-General.
