As per Article XIV’s provisions of the Constitutive Charter, an election was held on 29 January 2020 for the role of Secretary-General, with Sheikh Manssour Bin Mussallam being unanimously confirmed for an extraordinary, non- renewable mandate of six (6) years, commencing at the first General Assembly of the Organisation. He took office on 6 December 2021 as the first Secretary-General of the OEC.
The Secretary-General was the ex-officio Chair of the Organisation’s Preparatory Committee, of which he appointed the members, and tasked with making the appropriate arrangements for the constitution of the Organisation’s Virtual Advisory Committee, consisting of voluntary founding State Signatories of the Constitutive Charter.
